Although STC MCU is running at MCS-51 instruction set ,but it is real 16bit or 32bit core inside , whitch have four stage pipeline.So it can make the operating efficiency very high , but the price is a little higher operating current , soit cost more current at low frequency too than other MCU. But when STC's MCU processing the same equivalent operating speed , there MCUs is real lower current cost , many times better than M0+ core. If your design just need running at low operating clock and low current cost, choose a simpler MCU core maybe better.
